In the old west, there are not many rules and fewer lawmen. Life is hard, but dying is easy. In this world, Death is not just something that happens, it is corporal. I would hesitate that it was “human”. Since everyone knows what Death looks like, when the townsfolk see him, they know something bad will happen to someone, but whom? Everyone starts talking about who is the most likely person to day. One man, Paxton, believes that his sickly daughter, Sarah, is the next on Death’s list. Instead of doing nothing, he challenges death to prevent him from taking his daughter. At the same time, Claire pleads the Sherriff to do something about Death. Unfortunately, Death does nothing legally wrong for the Sherriff to detain him.

The whole premise of Toupydoops is that comic books are like our movies. All characters have to audition for the parts they have in comic books. The main characters travel from their hometown to Hollywood. The title character goes through his rights of passage in his realization that his dream to be an actor may not come easily for him. Many of his realizations come through some of the most hilarious circumstances that most readers will go through or have gone through.
